The Catholic University Institute of Buea (CUIB) Douala Campus held its 2024/2025 Freshman and Sophomore Convocation, emphasizing the importance of ethics, values, and hard work in academic and professional success.
The annual academic ritual which took place this day November 28th, 2024 at the CUIB Douala campus in Bonaberi saw Renowned journalist Mr. Beyiha Leonard delivered an inspiring keynote address, urging students to prioritize integrity as the foundation of their journey toward excellence.
The event opened with a solemn Holy Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Jude Mbi, Vicar General of the Diocese of Buea. The clergy encouraged students to model their lives after Christ, avoid immoral behaviors, and uphold the spiritual and moral values that are central to CUIB’s mission of nurturing professional servant leaders.
In his welcome speech, CUIB President Rev. Fr. Bartholomew Anyanwu commended the new students for choosing CUIB as their academic home. He reassured them of the university’s commitment to delivering quality education and urged them to engage actively with faculty and staff for guidance. He highlighted that CUIB’s holistic approach to education is designed to help students become the best versions of themselves.
During his keynote address, Mr. Beyiha Leonard urged students to resist negative influences, make the most of the university’s resources, and remain steadfast in their values. He stressed that success is anchored in ethics, discipline, and a commitment to standing out as individuals.
The ceremony culminated with Dr. Felicitas Mukom, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Research, and Cooperation, administering the convocation oath to the students, formally inducting them into the university community.
The convocation underscored CUIB’s dedication to shaping students into ethical, competent, and morally upright leaders ready to make a positive impact on society.
