
On August 15, 2025, Christians of the Diocese of Buea convened at the Regina Pacis Cathedral Small Soppo to celebrate the solemnity of the assumption of the blessed Virgin Mary. The solemnity celebrated by the Chief Shepherd of the Diocese Bishop Michael Bibi is a significant day for Catholics marking the belief that mother Mary was taken into Heaven, body and soul.
In 1950, Pope Pius XII formally established the Dogma of the Assumption of Mary, proclaiming that upon the end of her earthly life, Mary, the mother of Jesus, was bodily taken up into Heaven.

CHRISTIANS DURING SPECIAL OFFERTORY
The local ordinary encouraged Christians to emulate Mary’s humility, meekness, and faithfulness in surrendering to God’s will. He emphasized the significance of Mary’s acceptance of her role as the mother of God in Christian faith. By remaining immaculate, pure, and holy, Mary serves as a perfect model for Christians to follow.
As highlighted in CCC paragraph 491, Mary, chosen to be the Mother of God, was preserved from the stain of original sin from her conception, making her the first of all creatures to be redeemed through the merits of Jesus Christ. Throughout her earthly life, Mary remained sinless, and ultimately, she was taken into heaven body and soul, where her physical body was spared from decay .

CHRISTIANS CELEBRATING THE FEAST OF ASSUMPTION.
In the midst of the prevailing challenges of war, injustice, crises, and internal strife in Cameroon, the Chief Shepherd appealed to the faithful to seek the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Peace, in prayer.
