The event began with the Stations of the Cross, followed by adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and confessions. Priests, religious members, and lay faithful joined His Lordship Michael Bibi, Bishop of the Diocese of Buea, in the celebration of a Pontifical Mass to mark this sacred Lenten journey.
During the liturgical celebration, Bishop Bibi encouraged the congregation to remain hopeful and emphasized that the pilgrimage was a spiritual exercise for deepening faith and promoting repentance. He urged Christians to transform their lives, reject wrongdoing, and strive to be exemplary in both word and action.

Additionally, he called on the faithful to uphold their beliefs and protect the deposit of faith. Drawing a parallel to Jesus’ association with tax collectors, the Bishop challenged Christians to pray for one another’s conversion rather than to condemn each other.
At the close of the Eucharistic celebration, Bishop Bibi granted full indulgence to all pilgrims. This refers to the remission of the temporal punishment due to sins that have already been forgiven. It allows individuals to receive God’s grace more profoundly and reflects the Church’s understanding of mercy and the communal aspect of faith.
Following the Mass, he blessed a new grotto of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, which will serve as a dedicated place of prayer for pilgrims and all Christians.
