Christians have been reminded of the dangers of abortion, euthanasia, and suicide as unacceptable by the church as no one has the right to take away human life. This was the focus on the catechesis of today Monday the 4th of September by His Lordship Michael Bibi, held under the theme “You Shall not Kill”; the fifth commandment of the church.
Drawing from paragraph 2258 of the catechism of the Catholic Church on the Sacredness of human life, the prelate explained that human life has its origin and end in God and thus life is Sacred and no human being has the right to take away his or her life or that of another because the source of life is God and Him alone gives and takes away life.
Making reference to abortion, the Bishop quoting paragraph 2270-2275, reminded Christians of the danger and evil of abortion, Euthanasia and suicide and called on all to refrain from anything that may lead to such actions. He further called on participants to respect human life while condemning the act of in vitro fertilization and other improper practices
In line with paragraph 2284-2301 of the catechism of the catholic church which calls for the respect of human persons and human dignity, Christians were urged not to be a source of scandal to another as it is a great offense. Respect for human dignity he further reiterated also cuts across the area of health and so Christians were challenged to cater for their health and that of others and asked to shun all forms of actions that may lead to the destruction of their health.
The Chief Shepherd in the course of the teachings of this day, equally highlighted the importance of safeguarding peace while stating that it is the duty of each and every one to have peace and avoid situations that may take away peace from them. He invited all to stay away from anger and deliberate hatred of others as these he noted, takes away peace from the human person.
At the close of this catechetical session which took place at St Martin De Porres Parish Bokwaongo, these Christians were called to love one another as Jesus himself loves all.
