Faithful have been reminded of the believe in one God and that they must not worship any other God except Him. This reminder was made by Bishop Michael Bibi during his routine Monday catechetical session which took place on the 11th of November at St. Anthony of Padua parish in Buea town.

Bishop Bibi teaches on the first commandment
Educating Christians on the part of the first commandment which says “You shall have no other God excerpt me” the prelate highlighted the sins against this commandment as including superstition which he described as a perverse extent of religion. He cautioned Christians on the believe in supernatural things as one of the things against the first commandment.
He explained that the use of holy water becomes superstition when used to cook, bath or to carry out other irrational activities with the believe of sending away evil spirits. This and other sacramental he emphasized, must be used properly according to the teachings of the church and not for superstition.

Christians invited to shun superstition and idolatry
He further enlightened participants that idolatry is against the first commandment; the act of worshiping idols or creatures instead of God.
Among other things which are against the first commandment, Christians were called to reject divination including palm reading, horoscopy, magic, sorcery use of charms as all sins against the commandment.
