Caritas Buea Reaffirms Commitment to Education Through School Fee Support for Vulnerable Pupils
On Thursday, November 27th, 2025, Caritas of the Diocese of Buea demonstrated once again its strong commitment to education and child welfare through a targeted outreach to five schools within the Muea and Bomaka communities. The schools visited included St. Andrew Primary School Muea, St. William’s Nursery and Primary School Muea, CS Bomaka, CS Bolifamba, and Mount Carmel Nursery and Primary School.
During this outreach, the Caritas team met with school heads, teachers, pupils, and students, where they officially presented receipts of school fees paid on behalf of children facing financial difficulties. These pupils, many of whom are victims of the ongoing socio-political crisis in the Anglophone regions or come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, have now been given a renewed chance to continue their education without interruption.
Now in its second year, this school fee support initiative is part of Caritas Buea’s broader vision: no child should be denied the right to education because of financial hardship. This vision aligns with the Church’s social teaching on the dignity of the human person and the preferential option for the poor. Education remains one of the most powerful tools to break cycles of poverty and empower communities, and Caritas Buea is ensuring that even the most vulnerable are not left behind.

CARITAS AND SCHOOL PUPILS
Teachers and school administrators expressed their deep appreciation for the support, noting the relief it brings not only to the students but also to the entire school system. For many families, this intervention is more than financial—it is a restoration of hope, dignity, and the belief that they are not alone in their struggles.
