
On November 9th, 2025, Saint Martin de Porres Parish in Bokwango resounded with prayers and hymns as Christians marked their patron saint’s feast day. The celebration, led by Father Alphonse Fonyuy, was a poignant reminder to the faithful to reexamine their lives and recommit to their spiritual journey.
In his homily, Fr Fonyuy encouraged the faithful to emulate Saint Martin’s unwavering commitment to the Lord, prioritizing spiritual values over worldly distractions. He reminded them of Saint Martin’s selfless service to the poor and marginalized, and urged them to follow his example by living out their faith in practical ways. The parish priest emphasized that Saint Martin’s life was a testament to the power of faith, hope, and love, and called on the Christians to strive for holiness in their daily lives.

CHRISTIANS CELEBRATING THE FEAST OF THEIR PATRON SAINT
The celebration marked the culmination of a nine-day novena and socio-cultural activities, which brought the community together in prayer, fellowship, and celebration. The day’s festivities also included a grand march past of Christians from various Small Christian Communities, showcasing unity and joy. As the faithful processed through the parish grounds, they sang hymns and praised God, filling the atmosphere with a sense of jubilee and thanksgiving.
