Bishop Pius Awa Memorial Pastoral Center Gears Up for a New Chapter: the construction of modern Rooms, Convent, Halls, and Chapel at the Bishop Pius Awa Memorial Pastoral Centre are progressing at an impressive pace, with dedicated workers simultaneously engaged in the various projects. The second building, housing the pastoral center, has reached the third floor, and the exterior plastering is now complete.
Simultaneously, notable progress is evident in the development of the ultra-modern Congress Hall within the pastoral centre Anticipated to accommodate 1500 individuals. upon completion, the hall will feature ten toilets, four parking stores, huge parking space for cars, and a modern equipped kitchen. The estimated cost for this impressive facility is approximately one hundred and sixteen million francs CFA.
The Convent under construction is designed to accommodate the Sisters managing the Bishop Pius Awa Memorial Pastoral Center. This one-story structure will include four modern rooms, a ground-floor chapel, a spacious parlor, a dining area, and a kitchen. The upper section of the convent will house a 150-capacity Chaplaincy for private masses and other celebrations, with a projected cost of 54 million francs CFA.
According to Mr. Tchinda Ernest, the project supervisor, these structures are anticipated for completion by July 2024. Once finished, the Bishop Pius Awa Memorial Pastoral Center will host multiple rooms, expansive event halls, a chapel, and a range of other facilities for Christians within and beyond the Diocese.
This comprehensive project, envisioned by Bishop Michael Bibi, the esteemed Bishop of the Diocese of Buea, is poised to significantly enhance the Diocese’s infrastructure ahead of its 75th-anniversary celebration in 2025.
