Thousands of Catholic Christians from different parishes within the Buea Deanery of the Diocese of Buea alongside the Chief Shepherd Michael Bibi and priests , gathered in praise, prayer and adoration of the Body and Blood of Christ, to commemorate the solemnity of Christ the Universal King this 26th day of November 2023; the 34th Sunday in Ordinary time.
In recognition that Christ is the King of the whole world, this Christian population together with their priests from over seven parishes of the Buea deanery, processed with the Eucharist in prayer and songs of praise and convened at the Buea Grandstand to adore Christ who established God’s Kingdom on Earth .
During this significant commemoration, the Local Ordinary Michael Bibi, alongside His priests, adored Christ present in the Holy Eucharist and invoked the blessings of God upon these faithful. He used this moment to enjoin the Christians to love one another and to see Christ in one another as he sang the catholic song “ what so ever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me” . The prelate challenged his Christians to live according to the teachings of God and to extend help to those who are in need.
He prayed for peace to reign in Cameroon especially in the crisis hit regions: the Northwest and the Southwest Regions of the country . while calling on God to take control of these regions, Bishop Michael Bibi condemned the killings taking place in these Regions, reiterating that Human life is sacred and no one has the right to take away life. He called on all to respect Human life and to work for the kingdom of God which is meant for everyone. To be part of this Kingdom he noted, Christians must seek conversion of heart, and serve in humility and love.
While celebrating mass at the Regina Pacis Cathedral in small soppo, the Bishop , making reference to the gospel of Mark 1: 14-15, invited Christians to repent and believe in the good news, for the kingdom of God he noted, is at hand. The event marked a happy moment for the Christian population who raised their voices to God, shouting Glory and hallelujah to Christ the King of Kings, while surrendering themselves to the will God.
It should be noted that due to rains, the public adoration of the most precious Body and Blood of Christ is a feast to be celebrated in June but which has been moved to the solemnity to Christ the king and it is so in the entire ecclesiastical province of Bamenda.
