The 2024 Diocesan Pastoral Week for the diocese of Buea , kick started today Monday January 22nd, at the Bishop Pius Awa memorial Pastoral center. The first session of this week organized by the local ordinary Bishop Michael Bibi, commenced with the Presbyteral council; a council of priests selected to assist the local ordinary in an advisory capacity in the governance of the church.
The aim of the pastoral week is to evaluate the implementation of the Provincial Pastoral Plan; a document which guides the operation of the diocese for the pastoral wellbeing of the church. The evaluation of the past years activities, sets the pace for the planning of pastoral activities for the New Year.
During this first sitting, some services of the Diocese including Mount Mary Hospital, the Directorate of Communication and Divine Mercy Radio Television, presented their success stories; noting challenges and proposed way forward for the running of a successful year 2024.
The Pastoral Week it should be noted provides an opportunity for collaborators of the Diocese to share their stories, with the objective of planning for a more fruitful year. During this week, meetings will include that with the college of consultors, diocesan commissions, service heads, presbyterium, finance council, deanery councils, religious among others.
The pastoral week which can also be described as a consultative week, runs from January 22nd to Saturday 27th of January 2024.
