Members of the Christian Family Movement – CFM of the Diocese of Buea convened at All Saints Parish, Mutengene, to commemorate their Golden Jubilee under the theme “The Christian Family, a Model for Communion, Participation and Mission,”. The three-day-long activity, which began on Friday, June 28th,2024, was concluded with a Liturgical celebration officiated by the Chief custodian of the Diocese of Buea His Lordship Michael Bibi on Sunday, June 30th, 2024.
While thanking God for the members of CFM, the Prelate called on them to exercise love and forgiveness within their families and to shun all forms of hatred that may destroy the love in the family. He further reminded them to be consistent in their belief in God and to make choices and decisions that will lead them to heaven.
The family, being the domestic Church, Bishop Michael Bibi called on parents to love their children, to hand over the faith to them, and to encourage them to grow in that faith.
Addressing celebrants, the Chair of the diocesan couples indicated that in 1970, six couples of Saint Joseph College Sasse, formed the CFM in the Diocese of Buea. Today, the Christian Family Movement is present in the 7 Deaneries of the Diocese and in more than 30 parishes in the Diocese of Buea.
The couple invited fellow members to be devoted and disciplined as they play their roles in reflecting the life of the Holy Family of Nazareth; Jesus Mary and Joseph.
During the celebration, some couples were recognized for their dedicated services to the group and also some of them for spending over 40 years in marriage.
The event it should be noted took place within the context of the 75th anniversary celebration of canonical erection of the Diocese of Buea.
