Buea Diocese Celebrates Feast Day of Regina Pacis
On July 11, 2025, Christians of the Diocese of Buea gathered at the Regina Pacis Co-Cathedral in Small Soppo, Buea, to celebrate the feast day of the diocese. During the pontifical Mass, which was celebrated by Bishop Michael Bibi and co-celebrated by a host of monsignors and priests, the chief shepherd expressed his immense gratitude to all Christians, members of diocesan institutions and services, and everyone in attendance.

In his homily, the local ordinary of the diocese called on Christians to emulate the ways of Mother Mary, the Queen of Peace. At a time when the world is plagued by conflicts, wars, injustice, and fighting, he urged Christians to continuously implore Mother Mary, the Queen of Peace, to intercede for all. Drawing inspiration from the book of Matthew 5:9, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God,” the bishop stressed the importance of peace and reconciliation as prerequisites for being a child of God.
Quoting from the book of James 4:19, the chief shepherd further reminded Christians to be quick to peace and slow to anger; by doing so, they shall become ambassadors of peace and help build a world of unity and harmony.
During the Holy Mass, the bishop also commissioned the members of the Preparatory Commission for the Buea Diocesan Synod. This preparatory body will be responsible for making the necessary arrangements for the upcoming diocesan synod, scheduled to take place in May 2026. The commission will facilitate the gathering of members, collect information, and generate essential ideas for the smooth implementation of the synod.

As the feast day celebrations came to a close, Bishop Bibi and the peace ambassadors gathered for a fellowship meal, sharing in the joy and camaraderie of the day. This occasion served as a poignant reminder of the diocese’s commitment to peace, unity, and faith, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all Christians and newly appointed peace crusaders.
