Priests of the Diocese of Buea convened at the Bishop Pius Awa Memorial Pastoral Centre together with their bishop, to discuss issues relating to the welfare of the diocese and to evaluate the pastoral commitment of priests as they carry out their work of evangelization in the Diocese.
Welcoming them to this second session of the presbyterium for the year 2024 , the Local Ordinary of the Diocese of Buea ; Bishop Michael Bibi saluted the priests for all their contributions, proposals and commitment so far towards the pastoral work in the diocese of Buea. He called on their sincere participation at the meeting as they discussed issues patterning to the administration and the overall wellbeing of the diocese.
The meeting provided an avenue for self-evaluation of the pastoral commitment of the priests in carrying out their work of evangelization including their availability in administering the different sacraments to the Christians, attending to the sick, carrying out benediction as well as attending to other spiritual needs of the Christians as the need may be.
Discussing on different areas of responsibilities and the works of evangelization in the Diocese, emphasis was made on the duties and wellbeing of catechists in the Diocese. The priests were reminded of the dignity of the catechists who serve as agents of evangelization, and that their work must be acknowledged and they should be treated with love .
Speaking at the gathering, the Vicar for Clergy Rev. Fr. John Chamnda expressed words of appreciation to the Bishop and priests of the Diocese for the spirit of togetherness which reigns in the Diocese.
The Vicar for Religious Rev. Fr. Divine and the Vicar For laity Rev. Fr. Michael added their voices to salute the Bishop for the convivial environment accorded to the religious and Christians of the Diocese of Buea.
The meeting took place on Wednesday Mayl 22nd 2024, and brought together over 60 priests of the Diocese of Buea .
