Bishops of Cameroon Called to Communion and Courage Amid Challenges
Kumba, Cameroon – The Diocese of Kumba plays host to the 49th Annual Seminar of the Bishops of Cameroon, where reflections on the theme of communion and collegiality continue to take center stage. As Bishops continue to observe this significant event, they have been encouraged to surrender their fears, uncertainties, and challenges to Christ, while fostering a spirit of love for God and one another.
During the Eucharistic celebration presided over by the Archbishop of Garoua, His Grace Faustin Ambassa Ndjodo, that marked the beginning of the fifth day of the seminar, His Lordship Michael Bibi, Bishop of Buea, delivered a poignant message calling for unwavering faith and unity among the Bishops. He emphasized the importance of staying in communion with God in all circumstances, reminding the Bishops that their work is rooted in the collective mission of serving the people of God.

In his homily, Bishop Bibi underlined that the early apostles exemplified the essence of communion while serving others. “The people of God lived as one,” he noted, highlighting that this disposition is crucial to the mission of the Church today. Drawing parallels to the disciples’ experiences filled with fear and uncertainty, he reminded the Bishops of Jesus’ call to courage in the face of adversity. Just as Jesus calmed the storms faced by the apostles, Bishop Bibi encouraged the Bishops to trust in Christ to alleviate their own challenges.
