Saturday June 22, 2024, all the Brothers of St. Martin of Buea, an indigenous religious institute founded by the first indigenous bishop of Buea, converged on Bishop’s house Soppo at the invitation of their principal Bishop, Michael Bibi.
The primary aim of the meeting with all the members of this religious Institute of Buea Diocesan Right was to engage the religious brothers, understand their challenges and provide an opportunity for them to commune with their Principal Bishop that Bishop Bibi is, for the first time.
In his remarks, Bishop Bibi emphasized the importance of mutual support and open communication within the religious community. He acknowledged the vital role the Brothers of St. Martin have in the pastoral life of the diocese of Buea and assured them of his continuous support as their Principal Bishop.
The brothers, serving in various capacities across the ecclesiastical province of Bamenda, had the opportunity to share their experiences, challenges, and also made suggestions for improving their activities. The dialogue was candid and constructive, focusing on ways to enhance their spiritual growth and effectiveness in line with their constitution.
Also in attendance were key diocesan officials including the the Vicar General, Fr. Jude Thaddeus Mbi, the Vicar for Clergy, Fr. Bartholomew Anyanwu and Fr. Moses Tazoh, the founding superior of the institute. Their presence highlighted the meeting’s significance and provided a broader platform for addressing the concerns raised by the brothers.
