
On Sunday, March 30, 2025, the fourth Sunday of Lent, His Lordship Michael Bibi, the Local Ordinary of the Diocese of Buea, joined the Christians of Saint Laetitia Parish, Tiko, to celebrate the Eucharist in a spirit of solidarity. Marking Laetare Sunday, Bishop Bibi encouraged the congregation through a reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians, urging them to pursue peace and reconciliation to receive God’s blessings.

Referencing the Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 982, Bishop Bibi highlighted God’s readiness to forgive and challenged parishioners to cultivate humility and foster good relationships with each other, drawing inspiration from the Gospel of Luke and the parable of the prodigal son.

The Eucharistic celebration included the “catechumen scrutiny,” a series of rites within the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) aimed at preparing the “Elect” for their upcoming sacraments of baptism, confirmation, and first communion.

Rev. Fr. Benard Ebule, the parish priest, expressed gratitude to Bishop Bibi for his unwavering service to the Church, affirming that his presence is a testament to love, care, and dedication to the community.

PPC chair Mr. Eyong described the visit as a memorable occasion for the parish, assuring Bishop Bibi of their commitment to Christian growth and sharing plans for constructing a modern toilet facility in the church, as well as advocating for a technical school in the Saint Laetitia community.
The Christians were also informed about the upcoming Silver Jubilee of the Provincial Pastoral Plan, scheduled for July 23-24, 2025, in Buea diocese. Bishop Bibi urged them to actively engage in implementing the Provincial Pastoral Plan.
The pastoral visit culminated in vibrant animations from various Christian groups, celebrating the unity and spirit of the parish community.
