
Limbe, Cameroon – In a heartfelt ceremony filled with encouragement and spiritual guidance, the Bishop of the Diocese addressed students, teachers, administrators, and stakeholders at Our Lady of Lourdes College, Limbe. The Bishop was speaking during a mass on Wednesday February 12th, 2025 to officially launch 2024/2025 academic year in Limbe.
The Bishop began tha Mass by expressing his gratitude to the teachers, administrators, parish priests, and their assistants for their unwavering dedication and sacrifices. He praised their commitment to ensuring a successful academic year and emphasized the importance of collaboration in providing students with the necessary training to achieve their goals.

“Your sacrifices do not go unnoticed,” the Bishop said. “Together, you are shaping the future of these young minds, and your efforts will bear fruit in their success.”
In his homily, the Bishop, who is also the proprietor of the college, urged students and staff to embrace their identity as true sons and daughters of God. He reminded them that the college, named after Our Lady of Lourdes, offers a unique opportunity to have the Blessed Virgin Mary as their intercessor and model.

“Our college, named after Our Lady of Lourdes, gives us the opportunity to have Mary as our direct intercessor and model,” he said. “I urge you to always return to the Blessed Virgin Mary and ask for her favors, knowledge, and success in all your endeavors.”
The Bishop also addressed the students who will be sitting for the General Certificate of Education (GCE) exams for the first time in June 2025. He expressed his confidence in their abilities and set high expectations for their performance.
“I expect nothing short of excellence from you,” he declared. “Do not allow challenges to crush you. As a young school in the Diocese, you must use these challenges as stepping stones to success. Remember, your parents, teachers, and stakeholders are counting on you to rise to the occasion.”
Echoing the Bishop’s sentiments, Rev. Fr. James Chikieze, the Dean of Limbe Deanery, encouraged the staff and students to transform their challenges into opportunities for growth. He likened their journey to the process of creating beautiful roses from thorns, urging them to remain resilient and focused.

On his part, the Principal of Our Lady of Lourdes College expressed his gratitude to the Bishop and the school’s proprietor for the gift of the college, which was established in 2020. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working tirelessly to uphold the school’s values and achieve academic excellence.
