It was an atmosphere of joy, hope, and a craving for lasting peace as bike riders, members of Bishop Bibi’s peace club, parents, and children embraced the presence of the chief pastor Bishop Michael Bibi who arrived at the suffering community; Ikata on a bike, to pray and encourage the Christians as they struggle to keep up with their faith.
Holding peace plants; a significance of joy and a hope for lasting peace, the Christian community of St. James Parish Ikata welcomed Bishop Michael Bibi, as he joined them on Wednesday, 24th of April 2024 for his yearly pastoral visit, one aimed at praying with the Christians and encouraging them in their Christian life.
While celebrating the Eucharist with the faithful, Bishop Michael Bibi called on each and every one of them to practice justice, to give to people what is their dues and to own only what belongs to them. He encouraged them to be firm in prayers so that true peace May be restored in this community. He further invited all to be ambassadors of peace and to show love to one another.
Bishop Michael Bibi lauded the Priests of Muyuka Deanery, who always accompany him each time he visits the parishes within the Deanery to commune with the Christians.
Welcoming His lordship Michael Bibi, the Christians saluted the Bishop, who has supported the Ikata Bike riders union through what is known as a revolving fund, which assists them to buy motorcycles, thus creating employment for the young people.
Members of Bishop Bibi’s Peace club expressed gratitude to the prelate, enumerating his works in the community, including the provision of water and his intervention to ensure the reopening of schools in this community among others.
On their part, the Ikata football federation thanked His Lordship Michael Bibi for encouraging this federation that unites the youths of Ikata Parish. To show gratitude for what the Bishop has done for this community, the football federation announced that they have taken the responsibility to pay the salary of a secondary school teacher for a period of nine months.
After the celebration of Holy Mass, Bishop Michael Bibi met with members of the Water committee in this community who tabled a worry of inconsistency of water flow due to the failing of electricity and the water pump. Bishop Bibi in response, told the committee that he will finance the project immediately to ensure the stable flow of water in that community.
The visit was one that brought communion and love among the people of Ikata
