In a spirit of communion and love, the Chief Shepherd of the Diocese of Buea, His Lordship Michael Miabesue Bibi, presided over the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass on Sunday, October 26th, 2025, at the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral, Molyko-Buea. The Eucharistic celebration brought together hundreds of the faithful who gathered in thanksgiving, prayer, and unity as one family in Christ.

Preaching during the liturgy, Bishop Bibi reflected on the Gospel passage from Luke 18:9–14, focusing on the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector. He urged Christians to emulate the humility of the tax collector, who “stood at a distance, would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner.’” The Bishop reminded the Christians that true repentance begins with humility, a virtue that opens the heart to God’s mercy.

He cautioned against the self-righteous and prideful attitude of the Pharisee, noting that such behavior blinds us to our own weaknesses and distances us from God’s grace. “When we recognize our sins with sincerity and humility,” he said, “God lifts us up, forgives us, and restores our relationship with Him.”
Bishop Bibi also called on the faithful to renounce sin in all its forms—personal sin, sins of omission, being accomplices to evil, and neglecting to correct others in charity. He emphasized that sin disrupts our communion with God and one another, urging all to embrace a spirit of reconciliation, penance, and spiritual renewal.
