April 19, 2024, Buea – Bishop Michael Bibi visits construction sites for the 75th anniversary projects in the Diocese of Buea.
The visit, occurring just a day after a heartwarming gathering at the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral for the launching of the 75th anniversary celebrations, showcased the diligent efforts underway to prepare for the year-long festivities, set to reach their zenith in April 2025. The entire diocesan family had come together on April 18th to inaugurate this celebration period, marking a milestone in church’s rich history with joy and unity.
At the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral this afternoon, Bishop Bibi was warmly greeted by the construction teams whose skilled hands are giving the cathedral a transformative facelift. With visible enthusiasm, he walked through the site, observing the intricate work on the interior paintings that promise to add a refreshed aura to the holy premises.
The bishop’s tour continued to the cathedral’s basement, an area also witnessing significant upgrades. Further demonstrating his commitment to every detail of the church’s renewal, His Lordship then visited the presbytery, currently under expansion to better serve its community’s needs.
Another critical stop on his itinerary this afternoon was the construction site of the Bishop Pius Awa Memorial Pastoral Center. This second three-story building, destined to house the pastoral center, symbolizes the growth and ongoing development of the diocese. Addressing the construction team here, Bishop Bibi emphasized the importance of meeting deadlines to ensure everything is in place for the expected visit of bishops from across Cameroon in January 2025.
Throughout his visits, Bishop Bibi, accompanied by his Chancellor Rev Fr Augustine Anuchem, Strategic communication Manager Ms Fomucha Mirabel and Mr. Ernest Tchinda, the head of Diocesan Projects, expressed his satisfaction with the progress. He encouraged the teams to maintain their excellent standards and to continue their efforts vigorously.
The bishop’s tour not only highlighted the physical enhancements being made but also reaffirmed the spiritual and communal growth of the Diocese of Buea as it nears its 75th anniversary. As these projects advance, they promise to enrich the spiritual lives of the diocese’s faithful and fortify the foundations of their community, ensuring a legacy that will inspire future generations.
