Bishop Michael Bibi, in his fifth pastoral visit to Our Lady of sorrows Wona Lyose within two years, encouraged Christians to embrace their daily challenges as both Blessed Virgin Mary and Christ did.
His Lordship Michael Bibi, Bishop of the Diocese of Buea, was warmly welcomed by the faithful of Our Lady of Sorrows in Wona Lyose on September 15, 2024, marking a triple celebration for the parish managed by the Clarician priests. The parish commemorated its feast day and the second anniversary of its elevation to parish status by Bishop Bibi.
During his homily, Bishop Bibi reflected on the life of the Blessed Virgin Mary, highlighting her profound sorrows and the ultimate reward of her assumption into heaven as Queen. He emphasized that crosses and challenges are integral to the Christian life, drawing parallels between the suffering of Mary and the daily trials faced by believers.
Addressing the candidates receiving confirmation, Bishop Bibi urged them to open their hearts to the Holy Spirit, who strengthens and guides true disciples of Christ. He also exhorted all Christians to translate their faith into action, citing the example of St. James from the Bible.
To the nine candidates receiving their first Holy Communion, Bishop Bibi underscored the significance of the Eucharist as the cornerstone of Christian life.
In their remarks welcoming Bishop Bibi, the parish priest and the chairperson of the Parish Pastoral Council expressed gratitude for his leadership in elevating the parish and his numerous contributions to the Diocese. They encouraged him to continue his dedicated service in the vineyard of God.
