
On August 10, 2025, Christians of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Parish in Mekongi joyfully gathered to celebrate the installation of the Blessed Sacrament. The ceremony, marked by a pontifical holy Mass celebrated by the Bishop of the Diocese of Buea, His Lordship Bishop Michael Bibi, symbolized a profound renewal of hope, communion, and intimacy with the Eucharist.
In a heartfelt gesture of welcome, Fr. Monet Stanley, the parish priest, extended his deepest gratitude to Bishop Michael Bibi for his tireless dedication to realizing the cherished aspirations of the Christian faithful is materialized.The bishop’s efforts had culminated in the realization of a long-held dream: the installation of the Blessed Sacrament in their parish, enabling the community to worship and commune with Christ in their own spiritual home.

In his homily, Bishop Michael Bibi encouraged the Christians to follow the exemplary life of their matron saint, Saint Therese of the Child Jesus, who was a symbol of unwavering faith, selfless dedication, and profound love for Christ. He further urged the youth to take a leading role in fostering devotion to the Eucharist, emphasizing its importance in nurturing a vibrant spiritual life of Mekongi. Quoting from Mark 12:30-31, the chief shepherd called on Christians to practice the virtue of love as a prerequisite to inherit eternal life.
On behalf of the parish, the parish pastoral council chairperson, Mr Fonkeng Aloysuis extended his heartfelt appreciation to the bishop for his tireless works and endless support to the parish notably in the construction of a parish presbytery for priest. He reaffirmed the parishes support and loyalty to the chief shepherd.
