As the year 2024 draws to a close, the Local Ordinary of the Diocese of Buea His Lordship Michael Bibi, has met with his priests this 10th day of December, to appreciate them for the enormous work of evangelization and for the successes recorded in the year 2024.
Speaking with the priests, Bishop Bibi thanked them for the spirit of collaboration and solidarity exhibited throughout the year especially the energy put in by the priests at the level of their different deaneries towards the successful deanery celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the Diocese. He exalted other deaneries which are yet to celebrate the anniversary in their deaneries to follow in the same spirit while awaiting the peak celebration which comes up on the 7th of May 2025.
The prelate encouraged his priests to uphold same spirit of unity as they welcome the New Year 2025. This special gathering was also an opportunity for the chief custodian and his priests to finalize plans as the Diocese hosts the 48th edition of the National Episcopal Conference of Cameroon NECC, which takes place from January 4th to 11th 2025.
Other highlights of the meeting were discussions centered on the dedication of the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral which the Bishop reminded the priests of their significant role towards the realization of this milestone event. It is worthy to note that the dedication of Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral will take place within the Opening Mass of the Bishop’s conference which will hold on the 5th of January, 2025.
As they exit the old year, the priests of the diocese of Buea assured their Chief Shepherd of improved collaboration, harmony and above all their commitment to spreading the Gospel. The meeting took place in the banquet Hall of the Bishop Pius Awa Memorial Pastoral Centre.
