On Monday, April 7, 2025, during a catechetical session at Immaculate Conception Parish in Great Soppo, Bishop Michael Bibi led parishioners in a comprehensive discussion on the significance of the Easter Triduum. This sacred period allows the Church to remember the suffering, death, and resurrection of Christ.

The Easter Triduum spans from Holy Thursday evening to Easter Sunday evening and encompasses three key celebrations. The journey begins on Holy Thursday with the Mass of the Last Supper, during which the Church commemorates the institution of the Blessed Sacrament, the ordination of priests and the love of God. Bishop Bibi emphasized Jesus’ command to love one another, illustrated by the foot-washing incident, and urged Christians to serve in humility.

On Good Friday, the Bishop reminded attendees that Christ’s crucifixion marks the ultimate sacrifice for humanity’s salvation. He explained that this day is deemed “good” because Jesus willingly offered himself for man’s reconciliation with God. Unlike other days, a Mass is not celebrated; instead, a service begins at 3 PM, where Christians gather to hear the Word of God, pray for all, venerate the cross, and participate in communion. The Church encourages fasting on Good Friday as a form of penance.
The Easter Vigil is celebrated on Holy Saturday, starting with the lighting of candles and the singing of the Gloria, culminating in the joyous celebration of the resurrection on Easter Sunday.
The Easter Triduum concludes with vespers on Easter Sunday , marking the culmination of the faithful’s spiritual journey during this period
