The Chief Shepherd of the Diocese of Buea; His Lordship Michael Bibi, has called on Christians of Saints Peter and Paul Parish Batoke to be receptive to the Word of God, to be advocates of the truth and to live in unity. This call was made during the annual Pastoral Visit to this Christian community on Sunday September 8th 2024, aimed at praying with the Christians as one family and understanding their spiritual concerns.
During the celebration of the Eucharist, the Prelate challenged faithful to shun all forms of discrimination at all levels and to treat others with dignity. He encouraged them to work together as one family and to be in solidarity with members of their parish, Deanery, and the Diocese at large.
Speaking during his homily, Bishop Bibi noted that the spread of the Gospel is central to the work of a Christian. While encouraging them to remain firm in faith, he invited all Christians to listen to God’s word, to spread the Gospel, and to keep the word in their hearts. He further reminded them of the relevance to put into practice the Word of God and that their actions must be a reflection of the Gospel.
Addressing the Bishop during this Christian gathering, the Vice chair of the Parish Pastoral Council, on behalf of the Chairperson, saluted the Bishop for his spiritual and financial support to their parish. She lauded the continuous formation and education accorded to the Christians of this baby Parish and reassured the bishop of their endless support as he pilots evangelization in the Diocese.
Rev. Fr. Divine Fon, Parish Priest of Saints Peter and Paul Parish Batoke, expressed sentiments of joy and happiness as the Local Ordinary communed with them within the framework of the 75th anniversary of the Diocese of Buea, planned for May 7th, 2025
