
On July 21st, 2025, the Bishop of Buea diocese his Lordship Michael Bibi, led a catechetical session at Saint Martin the Porres Parish in Bokwango, which focused on the Liturgical Commission, a vital component of the Bamenda Provincial Pastoral Plan, aimed at deepening the Faithfuls understanding and participation in the sacred liturgy.
The bishop underscored that liturgy is the official public worship of the Church, celebrated in accordance with established liturgical norms.
The Liturgical Commission comprises of a diverse group of individuals, including priest and religious, catechists, and the laity, who may be elected or appointed. Additionally, persons proficient in sacred liturgical matters, such as experts from institutions like Saint John Paul ll Institute (JOPASIT) can also assume responsibilities, bringing their expertise to enhance the parish’s liturgical life.

CHRISTIANS ATTENDING DOCTRINAL SESSION
The chief shepherd of the diocese further highlighted the key roles of the members of the liturgical commission noting that among other things, they are expected to
acquaint themselves with the state of liturgical activities in their parishes
Diligently implement what laws put in place by the competent authority- the bishop
Suggest, advice and recommend plans for progress in the church and liturgy
The members of the liturgy commission are mandated to use these roles and activities to improve the liturgy life of the church.

RELIGIOUS PARTICIPATING IN THE DOCTRINAL SESSION
The local ordinary additionally called on Christians to be fully conscious of the liturgy, participate, recite prayers and sing during liturgy. “let us avoid becoming outsiders and spectators during the liturgy.” he noted. The local ordinary encouraged Christians to actively participate and be inclusive in the liturgical celebrations.
Through these efforts, the church aims to enrich the liturgical experience and deepen the faith of its members.
