
Christians of All Saints Parish have been educated on the 8th Commandment “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor ” The Chief Shepherd of the Diocese of Buea, Bishop Michael Bibi, carried out his weekly catechetical teachings in All Saints Parish in Mutengene on Monday the 10th of February 2025.
“God himself is Truth, and as Christians, it is an obligation to speak the truth and never to bear false witness against others” he said.
In his teachings, the proper teacher of the faith highlighted that Christians should be guided by Love in all their actions. He told participants to stay away from falsehood and avoid the sins against the 8th Commandment.

Drawing inspiration from John 17: 17, the Chief Shepherd urged faithful to consecrate themselves in the truth and not to be influenced by the crowd to tell lies.
He further highlighted that speaking the truth must not downplay anyone but should respect the dignity of persons without spreading falsehood. Truth should be communicated to those who have the right to know about the truth.
Mental reservations, he said, must be applied when speaking the truth .The Chief Shepherd explained that those who hold certain positions like medical doctors, priests, Religious amongst others must reserve the truth from those who do not have the right to such information.

He further made reference to paragraph 2492 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and cautioned Christians not to talk about the private lives of others. He noted the church’s teachings on social communication, which demands that information circulated on social media must be verified, represent the truth, and be communicated to those who have the right to that information .
After receiving these lessons, Christians had the opportunity to ask questions to the Bishop for clarity and growth in their faith.
