
Bamenda, August 22, 2025 – The Bishops of the Bamenda Provincial Episcopal Conference (BAPEC) today paid a courtesy visit to the Catholic University of Cameroon (CATUC), Bamenda, marking the final day of their week-long 78th Ordinary Meeting held in the Archdiocese of Bamenda.

The delegation was made up of the Bishops of Buea, Kumba, Kumbo, Mamfe, the Archbishop of Bamenda, and the Emeritus Archbishop of Bamenda.

At the provincial university, the prelates were received by the Vice Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Giles Forteh Ngwa, who guided them on a tour of the campus. The tour featured newly constructed classrooms still under completion, the Registry, the Vice Chancellery, as well as faculty buildings undergoing renovation and expansion.

The Bishops, visibly pleased with the ongoing work, lauded the administration for its dedication and urged them to sustain the momentum in raising CATUC’s profile.
Speaking during the visit, Archbishop Andrew Nkea, Chancellor of CATUC, explained the significance of the Bishops’ presence:
“Since CATUC is a provincial university, it is only normal for us, as Bishops, to visit and witness firsthand the activities being carried out. The growing student population and the need for CATUC to meet international standards are the guiding principles behind our investment in this infrastructure development.”

The visit highlighted the Bishops’ commitment to strengthening higher education within the province and reaffirmed their collective support for the growth of CATUC as a leading Catholic institution of learning in Cameroon.
