The official opening of the 48th Annual Seminar held at the CMA secrétariat in Molyko, Buea.
The mayor of Buea, Barrister, David Mafany Namange appreciated the contributions of the Diocese of Buea towards the socio-economic development of the town of Buea, seat of the Diocese. According to the mayor, the Chief Shepherd of Buea, Bishop Michael Bibi has made Buea municipality more beautiful especially with the completion and construction of the two anniversary projects: the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral and the Bishop Pius Awah Memorial Pastoral Centre, Buea.
The Governor of the South West region, His Excellency Bernard Okalia Bilia acknowledged the contribution of Buea Diocese towards the progressive return of peace in the region that has suffered the ravages of the anglophone crisis since 2016, noting that peace is a treasure that all and sundry must work hard to preserve at all cost.
The host Bishop, Most Rev. Michael Bibi spoke about the need to preserve a healthy, collaborative relationship between the state and the Church and the need for both institutions to work for the good of all Cameroonians.
He thanked all those who have supported the Diocese of Buea towards the realisation of its key projects : the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral and the Bishop Pius Awah Memorial Pastoral Centre, Molyko.
The high point of the solemn opening of the 48th Annual Seminar of the Bishops of Cameroon was the speech of the President of the National Episcopal Conference of Cameroon, His Grace Andrew NKEA who called on all Cameroonians to take their responsibility in contributing to fix Cameroon and stop pointing accusing fingers on others.
The Bishops have begun their seminar. They deliberated extensively today in a closed door session and many are hoping that the Bishops’ Seminar in Buea will mark a turning point in the history of our country with presidential elections approaching later this year.
The Bishops will continue their in-camera deliberations on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 as they discuss synodality and share ideas on how they can guide all Cameroonians towards embracing the ideals of peace and solidarity, with each participating actively in shaping the future of our beloved country.
