Great attention is directed to refurbish St. Joseph’s College Sasse, a deep-rooted Catholic College of the Diocese of Buea which continues to be a premier institute of secondary and high school education in Cameroon since its creation on the 1st of February, 1939.
After benefiting from the fine and holistic education provided by this remarkable institution, and also inspired by the work and commitment of the Bishop of Buea to infrastructural development across the Diocese in general and education in particular, alumni of Sasse College living in the United States of America (SOBA America), have come together to contribute their quota in giving a facelift to the Chapel of their beloved alma mater .
Rev. Fr. Desmond Ndikum, Priest of the Diocese of Dallas and main project coordinator of this mission, pens down reasons why they have gathered to support Bishop Michael Bibi to make Sasse great again. He notes: “this project came about after a visit to Sasse College and conversation with the Bishop about his infrastructural goals for the College. When the Bishop visited the United States to attend the 2022 SOBA America Convention, he made it clear that he was dedicated to making Sasse College great again. He told SOBANs that he was open to any collaboration to return Sasse College to its prestige of old. Not only did he make that pledge but he followed up with major actions such as carry out hundreds of millions francs worth of renovation works across the campus. This inspired us greatly. Thus, when I saw the Chapel was in great need of a touch up, I decided to support the bishop’s efforts by taking this up”.
Rev. Fr. Desmond Ndikum, went further to highlight that this project will realize the repair of the roof, change of the ceiling, improvement of the lighting, tiling of the entire chapel, repainting and replacing of all 100 pews.
It should be noted that this over 40 million francs worth project aimed at giving a facelift to the Chapel where the alumni gained spiritual nourishment during their stay in this institution, is one of the many projects being carried out at St Joseph’s College Sasse, to make it great again.
