From Discernment to Action: Living Out the Universal Vocation of Service and Holiness.

Date: April 28, 2026

In observance of the Church’s call to prayer for vocations on April 27, 2026, the Cathedral Administrator of the Diocese of Buea, Rev. Father Martin Njie Moka, presided over a catechetical session at St. Charles Lwanga Parish, Molyko, centered on the theme “Vocations in the Church.” This session served as a strategic spiritual forum, educating the faithful on the frameworks of divine discernment and the practical application of God’s word within their personal and professional lives. By exploring the various vocational paths within the Church, Father Moka underscored a critical ecclesiastical principle: that the mandate for holiness and the service of Christ was not a specialized vocation reserved for the religious, but a universal responsibility for all .

The Cathedral Administrator, Fr. Martin Njie, reminded the faithful that all humans are called to holiness. He explained that vocation represents God’s unique call to each person on how to live out that universal call within their daily lives. In line with Church teaching, Fr. Njie emphasized that vocations were not reserved solely for the consecrated or religious life; rather, he noted that through various professions, work, and positions of duty, all people could effectively live out their call to holiness and respond to God’s individual summons.

He further stated that by transforming their daily lives and impacting others according to Gospel values, the faithful could authentically live out their vocation, as every act of love, service, and integrity became a way of answering God’s call. Consequently, Fr. Njie challenged Christians to be people of discernment who not only accepted their vocations but remained dedicated to them. He concluded by urging the faithful to pray without ceasing for the gift of more vocations in the Church and for the grace to live out their own callings as God willed.

His catechesis served as a powerful reminder that every individual was called to integrate their unique talents into the Church’s broader mission, ensuring that the pursuit of sanctity remained a cornerstone of the entire Christian community. Through this teaching, he emphasized that the call to serve Christ was an inclusive duty that transcended clerical boundaries, urging every member of the parish to see their life’s work as an extension of their faith.
