Faith, gratitude, and jubilation filled the air as the members of Saint John of God Parish in Bonadikombo, Mile 4, Limbe, gathered on July 13th, 2025, to commemorate a decade of spiritual growth and devotion, celebrating both their 10th anniversary and the feast day of their patron saint, Saint John of God.
In a Eucharistic celebration officiated by the chief shepherd of the diocese, Bishop Michael Bibi, he expressed immense joy and gladness at witnessing the parish’s evolution and growth. Acknowledging the humble beginnings of the parish, he sincerely appreciated all those who contributed to its development from infancy to maturity. He also extended gratitude to Bishop Emeritus Immanuel Bushu, who recognized the need to elevate the parish from a mission station to a fully-fledged parish.
During the ceremony, the bishop dedicated the church and parish to Saint Josepha. Drawing lessons from her life of rejection, suffering, persecution, disgrace, and adversity, the prelate urged the faithful to emulate Saint Josepha’s resilience and to seek refuge at the altar when facing similar challenges.

The celebration featured the confirmation of 120 Christians, marking their reception of the Holy Spirit. Bishop Bibi emphasized that the confirmation should reflect the Spirit’s presence in their lives, following a period of proper preparation, disposition, and renewal of baptismal vows.

He took the opportunity to thank all the heroes of the parish, both past and present, especially the first parish priest, Father Hilary Ngome, who was in attendance, as well as all those who hold the parish and its activities dear to their hearts.
In appreciation of the bishop’s extensive contributions to the diocese, the parish priest, Fr. Benard Asek, likened himself to Oliver Twist and appealed for financial assistance to support the parish’s ongoing and future projects, highlighting the urgent needs and aspirations to ensure the smooth operation of the parish.
The second phase of the parish’s 10th anniversary celebration concluded with a match past and a series of joyful activities, reflecting the community’s unity and commitment to their faith.
