Prayer and Action Groups Gather in Thanksgiving at Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral
Members of the various Prayer and Action Groups of the Diocese of Buea gathered on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral, Molyko-Buea, for their Annual Thanksgiving Eucharistic Celebration. The Holy Mass was presided over by the Chief Shepherd of the Diocese, His Lordship Most Rev. Michael Bibi, Bishop of Buea. United as one family of faith, the faithful converged to render thanks to God for His abundant blessings, guidance and protection over their lives, families and apostolates.
At the commencement of the celebration, Bishop Bibi underscored the centrality of thanksgiving in the Christian journey. He reminded the faithful that gratitude should never be forgotten, and exhorted them to cultivate grateful hearts that continually acknowledged God’s goodness and providence in all circumstances.
In his homily, the Prelate expressed profound appreciation to the members of the various apostolates for their invaluable contributions to the growth and vitality of the Church. He challenged them to live their faith authentically through concrete action, stressing that prayer must always be accompanied by commitment and dedicated effort. He noted that meaningful progress and visible fruits in the vineyard of the Lord could only be achieved when faith was inseparable from action, humility, diligence and a genuine spirit of service.

Bishop Bibi further called on the apostolic groups to intensify their prayer lives and to make a tangible impact on the lives of those they served, fostering their spiritual growth and enrichment. He urged them to be compassionate, empathetic and zealous in their mission, serving as instruments of God’s love and mercy in their various spheres.
The Bishop concluded with a special appeal for the youth, who he observed were increasingly drawn into immorality, drug abuse and other societal ills capable of derailing them from the love of God and compromising their future. He enjoined members of the apostolates to become positive role models, to intercede ceaselessly for young people, and to educate them on the dangers and consequences of such harmful lifestyles.
