Catechetical Session on the Four Marian Dogmas at St. Martin de Porres, Bokwango

At a time when the Church continued to reflect on the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, celebrated on August 15, 2026, Rev. Father Martin Njie Moka led a catechetical session on August 17, 2026 at Saint Martin de Porres Parish, Bokwango. The session was held on the theme, “Understanding the 4 Marian Dogmas of the Church,” and provided an opportunity for the faithful to deepen their understanding of the Church’s teachings on Mary and her unique role in God’s plan of salvation.

His catechesis enlightened the faithful on the four Marian dogmas: Mary as the Mother of God, the Immaculate Conception of Mary, the Perpetual Virginity of Mary, and the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Through these teachings, the faithful reflected on the Church’s Magisterium concerning the person of Mary, her faith, obedience, and unique cooperation in God’s plan of salvation.

REV FATHER MARTIN NJIE MOKA

In his presentation, Rev. Father Martin Njie Moka noted that the Church presented the faithful with four Marian dogmas: the Immaculate Conception of Mary, the Perpetual Virginity of Mary, the Assumption of Mary, and Mary as the Mother of God. He explained that these dogmas helped the faithful to better understand the person of Mary, her true nature, and her unique role in God’s plan of salvation. He further stated that Mary remained a proper model for all Christians to emulate, particularly through her humility, faith, and complete trust in God. He described her obedience and total acceptance of God’s will as a roadmap for every Christian, and added that Mary was assumed into heaven not through her own power, but through the power and grace of God.

The catechist also noted that God was the first to honour Mary, and he encouraged the faithful to honour her, but not to worship her. He reiterated that Mary held a special place in the life of the Church and served as an intercessor for the faithful, always directing them towards her Son, Jesus Christ.
