On Sunday, August 16, 2026, the Local Ordinary of the Diocese of Buea, His Lordship Michael Miabesue Bibi, presided over a Eucharistic celebration at St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Buea Town. The celebration brought the Bishop into the midst of the faithful of that part of the Diocese as he joined them in prayer and communion around the Eucharistic table.

The Mass served as an opportunity for the Bishop to strengthen the bonds of communion between the Diocese and its parish communities. Throughout the celebration, the faithful of St. Anthony of Padua Parish were united with their Shepherd in thanksgiving, prayer, and praise, as they sought God’s grace and guidance for their families, their parish, and the entire Diocese of Buea.

In his homily, Bishop Bibi emphasized the power and importance of faith in the spiritual life of every Christian. He taught that faith could move mountains and noted that prayers could be answered either because of an individual’s faith or through the faith of others. For that reason, he urged all Christians to seize the opportunity to ask others for prayers. Quoting the Catechism of the Catholic Church, CCC 143, the prelate described faith as the total surrender of one’s intellect, human understanding, will, and control to God.

The Chief Shepherd encouraged the faithful to draw inspiration from Abraham, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the Canaanite woman, whom he presented as models of unwavering faith and trust in God. He particularly called on Christians to remain bold, persistent, and steadfast in their faith, like the Canaanite woman, even when their desires seemed distant or their prayers appeared unanswered. He also reminded them that their relationship with God was founded on a covenant, and that God remained faithful and always kept His promises. Describing God as a loving and faithful Father who was ever ready to bless His people abundantly, Bishop Bibi called on the faithful to remain faithful to their covenant with God and to continue trusting in His goodness even in moments of difficulty and uncertainty.
