Today, Friday, November 28th, 2025, priests of the Diocese of Buea concluded a spiritually enriching weeklong retreat held at the Bishop Pius Awa Pastoral Center. The retreat, marked by moments of deep prayer, silence, reconciliation, reflection, and pastoral sharing, offered a sacred space for the clergy to reconnect with God, examine their vocation, and renew their commitment to the priestly mission.
This retreat served as a pivotal moment in the life of each priest — a time to pause from the demands of ministry and take a sincere look inward. It was a grace-filled opportunity for retrospection, acknowledging areas of weakness, and rededicating themselves wholly to the service of Christ and His Church.

PRIEST DURING RETREAT MASS
Guided by the retreat director, Rev. Fr. Michael Mbuwir, and the Chief Shepherd of the Diocese, Bishop Michael Bibi, the sessions focused on the theme of priesthood in the face of modern challenges. Through powerful talks and spiritual direction, the clergy were led to reflect on how to navigate the storms of modernism, secular ideologies, emotional wounds, and the complexities of pastoral life with faith and courage.
The retreat culminated in a solemn renewal of priestly commitment — a moving gesture symbolizing the priests’ re-commitment to the Gospel, their pastoral duties, and the people of God. As they return to their various missions, the priests carry with them renewed zeal, fortified spirits, and a deeper sense of purpose in the service of the Church.
