
The Bishops of the Bamenda Ecclesiastical Province gathered in Buea today July 25th 2025,to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Bishop Michael Bibi’s priesthood. The celebration began with a Pontifical Mass at the Divine Mercy Co-cathedral Molyko, led by the jubilarian His Lordship Bishop Michael Bibi and Bishops of the Bamenda Ecclesiastical Province.
Ordained a priest on the 26th of June 2000,by late Bishop Michael Verdzekov, Bishop Bibi is celebrating a Quarter of a century in his dedicated service, teaching, obedience and selflessness .Like The high priest Melchizedek of old, “ The lord has sworn and will not change his mind you are a priest for ever.” (Psalm110:4)

Joining this anniversary celebration is the Governor of the South West Region Benard Okalia Bilai, the paramount ruler of the Bakweri tribe, His Royal highness Chief Dr Robert Esuka Mbella Endeley, along with a host of religious, civil and administrative authorities.
In his homily, the prelate Andrew Nkea, Archbishop of the Bamenda Ecclesiastical Province reflected on Bishop Bibi’s call to priesthood as a divine mystery, one which human understanding cannot comprehend. He further cautioned Christians to look past familiarity, friendship, intimacy and see the priest in a man not the man in a priest.

Bishop Bibi at silver, is a testament of unwavering dedication to priesthood. A dedication which has been reflected in his services as priest, auxiliary bishop, then as apostolic administrator of the Diocese of Buea and finally as the Bishop of the diocese of the Buea. The Priesthood is a call to ministry and service to the people of God, and as scripture points out, “No one calls himself, but he receives it when called by God.”(Hebrews 5:4)

Speaking on behalf of the diocese, the Diocesan Pastoral chairperson Mr Vefonge James warmly welcomed the Christians for honoring the invitation to commune with the chief shepherd and expressed feelings of appreciation to the bishop for doing everything in placing the Diocese of Buea at the center stage of Cameroon.

Additionally, the vicar general of the church, Rev father Bartholomew Anyawu thanked the bishop for his fatherly tenderness, as it radiates growth, blessings,love and holiness, the foundations of our faith.
The ceremony drew to a close with laughter, merriment, feasting and warm company at the aunty Kate banquet hall.
