In a heartfelt message during the Holy Thursday celebration at Regina Pacis Cathedral in Small Soppo on April 17, 2025, Bishop Michael Bibi called upon Christians to embody humility, pray for their priests, and love one another. He urged the faithful to reflect on the paschal mystery—the suffering, death, and resurrection of Christ.

Holy Thursday at Regina pacis cathedral
Holy Thursday is a significant day that marks the beginning of the Easter Triduum, commemorating the institution of the Blessed Sacrament, the establishment of the priesthood, and the commandment of love. This liturgical observance sets the stage for the deeply spiritual journey of Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Drawing from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, particularly paragraph 1376, Bishop Bibi reminded congregants that during consecration, the substance of bread becomes the Body of Christ, and the substance of wine becomes His Blood. After consecration, Jesus is truly, really, and substantially present in the Eucharist.

Bishop Bibi calls on Christians to pray for priests
On this special day, the Universal Church expresses gratitude for the gift of the priesthood. The local Ordinary invited the congregation to fervently pray for their priests so that they may remain faithful in their ministry.

washing of feet: a sign of humility
Bishop Bibi emphasized the importance of loving and serving one another with humility in various leadership roles, pointing to Christ’s example in washing the feet of His disciples. Citing paragraph 2559 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, he noted that humility is the foundation of prayer, Christian life, and the priesthood.
To mark this solemn occasion, Bishop Bibi washed the feet of twelve Christians, including men, women, and students, as a symbolic act of service and humility—reminding the congregation of their shared call to live in love and service to one another, following the path laid out by Christ Himself.
