
The Catholic Education Secretary, Rev. Fr. Vincent Mesue, visited Our Lady of Mount Carmel College Muea on February 27, 2025, to celebrate the opening Mass for the 2024/2026 academic year. This visit holds significant importance as the prestigious college has only recently resumed operations after being severely impacted by the ongoing Anglophone Crisis.

During his homily, Fr. Mesue emphasized the importance of collaboration between teachers and students to ensure the effective transmission of knowledge from one generation to the next. He commended the staff for their sacrifices and dedication in restoring the college to its operational state, enabling it to continue contributing to the Church’s mission of evangelization.

Mrs. Fomenky Mercy, the Principal of the college, expressed her joy and gratitude for the efforts and sacrifices made by the Bishop and proprietor of the college, His Lordship Michael Bibi, in reviving the institution after its shutdown due to the crisis. She highlighted the collective efforts that have brought the college back to life, allowing it to continue its educational and spiritual mission.

Rev. Fr. Vincent Mesue, who represented the Bishop at the official opening Mass, conveyed the Bishop’s fraternal wishes and explained that the Bishop would have loved to attend in person but was unable to due to other pastoral commitments.

The event was marked by vibrant cultural performances, including traditional dances and a performance by the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Band Club, which entertained the distinguished guests during their visit.
