It is a historic moment for the Diocese of Buea as Bishops of the 26 Dioceses in Cameroon grace Buea, the land of legendary hospitality with blessings as they opened their 48th Annual Seminar of the Bishops of Cameroon With a solemn pontifical High Mass presided over by Bishop Michael Bibi, Bishop of the Diocese of Buea, this 5th day of January, 2025.
This momentous event witnessed the dedication of the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral during which the keys of the church were officially handed to the Local Ordinary His Lordship Michael Bibi, and the doors officially opened.
Gathered together in Synodality, the solemn ceremony was an atmosphere to thank God and one of prayers for graces from God. Holding on the theme Synodality, the Chief Shepherd Michael Bibi noted that this gathering of the Bishops which happens every year in a chosen Diocese, is a demonstration of the bond shared by brother Bishops as they journey together.
Amongst key issues to be discussed during the conference, he said that discussions shall include ways in which the Local church can work together, bringing all to actively participate in the church, sharing their gifts and talents.
While reigning peace on the Christian populace of the Diocese of Buea, the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Bamenda and President of the National Episcopal Conference, Archbishop Andrew Nkea, Congratulated Buea Diocese under the leadership of their dynamic, spiritual, and committed leader His Lordship Michael Bibi, for the accomplishment of the Divine Mercy Co-Cathedral; a project started by Bishop Emeritus Immanuel Bushu in 2009. He prayed that the people of Buea should use this church for the glorification of God in truth. He urged Christians to live the reality of the church by loving one another and staying united and peaceful.
The Solemn opening Mass was attended by civil authorities among whom was the Governor of the Southwest Region, Bernard Okalia Bilai, the Mayor of Buea Municipality David Mafani Esq, Senator Mbella Moki Charles, amongst other state officials.
The official opening of the 48th annual seminar of the Bishops of Cameroon shall take place on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at the newly constructed CMA National Secretariat beginning at 10. Am.
