317 students of the Catholic University Institute of Buea have been commissioned to be ambassadors of CUIB as graduates of this noble institution imbibed with Professional leadership skills, Entrepreneurial knowledge and moral values relevant to bring significant change in their varied communities.
The commencement ceremony took place at the CUIB Buea campus in Buea, beginning with a thanksgiving Mass officiated by His Lordship Michael Bibi, Bishop of Buea, Chancellor and Proprietor of CUIB .
At the Commencement Mass, the Bishop expressed thanks to God who is the superior agent of success, to the teachers and the hardworking students . The prelate encouraged the graduates not to be scared to face the world and make use of every opportunity that comes their way. He invited them to trust in God as they open up a new chapter of their life. The Bishop cautioned graduates against the overzealous love for money and that they should work hard, trusting in God to bless them with money.
The President of CUIB Rev. Fr. Bartholomew Anyanwu, in his welcoming remarks during the second part of the ceremony, Poured heartfelt congratulations to the graduates while calling on them to handle the new journey with caution and observation, making right choices. He told graduates that being static is not an option but rather embracing change as there is no fix box for an entrepreneur, is the way to go about life as they take on this new journey.
His Royal Majesty Chief Dr. Robert Esuka Endeley, Paramount Ruler of Buea and IT expert, as keynote speaker at the 11th Commencement Ceremony of CUIB presented on the theme ” from Consumers to innovators. How youths can move from being passive consumers of technology to active creators, innovators, and problem solvers in society” He told graduates that great leaders rely on vision, not sight. He said to them; “never believe you don’t have what it takes to be a great inventor and a successful businessman. You will encounter challenges, and people will criticize and laugh at you, but don’t be discouraged. Stay focused on your vision, and do not let anyone spoil your dream”. The keynote speaker urged these graduating students to be successful by creating and having confidence in themselves. Leaving as graduates, he exalted them to be patient and to seek old problems to provide new solutions .
These graduates from the different schools of CUIB were awarded degrees, including HND, BTech, BSc, and MBA. It should be noted that they were awarded a minor degree in Catholic studies mentored by the University of St Thomas Minnesota USA.
