Thursday, November 7, 2024, Christians gathered at the entrance of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish Yoke, to welcome His Lordship Michael Bibi, Chief custodian of the Diocese of Buea, as he made his traditional annual pastoral visit to this Christian community.
Bishop Michael Bibi Started this pastoral mission in 2020 and made it a tradition to visit parishes within Muyuka Deanery each year. The aim of this annual visit is to encourage the Christians of this environment, who over the past 7 years have been caught up in the middle of the Anglophone crisis, which continues to affect this community especially.
The prelate reassured the Christians of God’s presence with them and his protection despite the difficulties and challenges brought upon them as a result of the crisis “Do not be afraid, God is with you and will protect you always.” Bishop Bibi encouraged his flock to be resilient, prayerful and to be connected to God always. He extended gratitude to the parish pastoral council and the church community for supporting the growth of the Church.
Mrs. Esther, the parish pastoral council chair, described the visit of the Chief Shepherd as a source of encouragement, an exhibition of his fatherly love; a true identity of a good Shepherd. She saluted the prelate for his numerous transformations in the Diocese of Buea and encouraged him not to relent amidst criticism by few detractors.” Everyone cannot be for you . Be assured that we stand by you, united under your leadership” she noted.
The Dean of Muyuka Deanery, during the event, expressed gratitude to the Bishop for his yearly visit to the Deanery and for always being a father to them.
