The National Director of Pontifical Mission Societies Rev Fr. Cletus Ashu Amah is in Buea for a three day visit to the Diocese aimed at visiting different projects that have received support from the Pontifical Mission Societies and to appreciate the level of execution of these projects.
In a brief meeting held with Bishop Michael Bibi ; Bishop of Buea, on Friday 18th October 2024 at the Bishop’s House, Rev. Fr. Cletus saluted the Bishop for unblocking the blocks which stopped Buea Diocese from receiving grants from the Pontifical Mission Societies. He expressed sentiments of appreciation to the Bishop for the transparency, responsiveness and high level of execution recorded by the Diocese since 2022 which opened the doors again for the Diocese to receive funding. “Buea Diocese has taken the approach of what is needed by the Pontifical Mission Societies and this should be an example for others to follow” the national director noted.
The Local Ordinary His Lordship Michael Bibi, used this avenue to accord words of appreciation to the Holy Father through the Pontifical Mission Societies for the immeasurable support to the Diocese of Buea. He thanked them for the 60,000 Euros support towards the roofing of the Divine Mercy Co-cathedral which will soon be dedicated in the presence of the Bishops of Cameroon come January 2025
The Bishop further saluted the Pontifical Mission Societies for their contribution towards the ongoing School construction at Wututu and also the ongoing work at the Bishop Pius Awa Memorial Pastoral Centre.
The tour to the different project sites in the diocese of Buea comes at a time when Bishop Bibi and his Christians are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that Buea Diocese becomes a reflection of 75 as it look forward to celebrating the 75th anniversary of erection
The purpose of the Pontifical Mission Societies it should be noted, is to support the proclamation of the gospel, the building of the Church and also to build a missionary spirit in everyone.
This visit comes Ahead of the 2024 World Mission Sunday scheduled for October 20th 2024.
