Christians of the Diocese of Buea and beyond have mobilized funds to support the renovation of Regina Pacis Cathedral Small Soppo Buea; the seat of the Local Ordinary of the Diocese. Constructed in 1928 and made Cathedral in 1950, Christians of Buea Diocese on Sunday, July 14, 2024, joined their Chief Shepherd Michael Bibi for a Fundraising Mass at Regina Pacis Cathedral Small Soppo to thank God for this Cathedral and the fruits it has bore over the years and to raise funds to assist with the continuation of renovation works at the Cathedral, ahead of the 75th-anniversary celebration of Buea Diocese.
Officiating the Eucharistic celebration, Bishop Michael Bibi called on Christians to avoid twisting the truth to gain favors. Despite the persecution faced, Christians were urged to stand by the truth and to be ready to die for the truth. They were called to live good and holy lives, avoid sin, and make decisive moral choices that make them true sons and daughters of God.
During the second part of the event, Christians from the different parishes within the Diocese, friends of the Bishop and people of good will, mobilized funds to support the tiling of the floor, change of windows, electrification, renewing of the ceiling amongst others at the Regina Pacis cathedral.
The Local Ordinary Michael Bibi saluted the generous contribution of the Christians towards their support in giving the 96 years old Cathedral a face lift.
It was also an avenue during which the parish choir launched their new uniform and received blessings from the Bishop who provided these uniforms to the choristers.
