Monday July 8th, 2024 His Lordship Michael Bibi continued his catechetical session at All Saints Parish in Mutengene during which he dwelled on the missionary activity of the church. He reminded Christians that the mission of the church is to teach the faith and to guard the deposit of the faith such that it is handed on entirely and in truth.
The importance of proclaiming the word was pointed out as essential because the proclamation of the word touches people in different ways and motivates them to enroll as catechumens for the reception of the sacrament of Baptism.
The prelate further mentioned that there are three different stages of understanding evangelization and these include the initial proclamation which connotes the hearing of the gospel for the first time, Catechesis which involves the deepening of the knowledge of the gospel, and ongoing formation which constitutes continuous doctrine to help persons mature in their faith. These three stages he noted, take place simultaneously.
In addition to this, Bishop Bibi highlighted that One of the places where evangelization is carried out is the catholic schools. These schools he noted, are equipped with the appropriate teachers to teach the faith to students. He encouraged parents and guidance to send their children to catholic schools so that they may receive holistic education that will help them in their lives here on earth and which also will prepare them for their final destination.
Participants after listening to the chief catechists, were enlightened and they expressed their satisfaction with the lesson while wishing for more sessions so as to learn more about their faith.
