The local ordinary of the Diocese of Buea His Excellency Michael Bibi, who is on a pastoral mission in the United States of America, recently met with His Excellency Peter Jugis; Bishop of the Diocese of Charlotte, to discuss future collaboration between the two dioceses with the one mission to promote the evangelical works of the church.
While welcoming Bishop Michael Bibi to his Diocese, Bishop Peter Jugis expressed gratitude to his bother Bishop for the long-standing relationship they share and appreciated the wonderful works of priests from the Diocese of Buea who serve in the Diocese of Charlotte.
During the meeting, Mgr. Winslow; Vicar General and Chancellor of the Diocese of Charlotte, presented to the bishops, the new partnership agreement for a more successful cooperation in the days ahead. Both Bishops expressed their commitment to the full implementation and realization of this partnership.
Nevertheless, Bishop Peter Jugis expressed regrets to the fact that some priests of the Diocese of Buea after their service in the Diocese of Charlotte, do not want to return to their diocese.
However, Bishop Michael Bibi reassured the prelate of his continuous collaboration for the good of both dioceses while thanking him for the trust he has in the Diocese of Buea. He further presented an overview of the diocese, and invited Bishop Jugis to the 75th anniversary celebration of the Diocese which comes up in April 2025.
At the close of the meeting, Bishop Michael Bibi was taken for a guided tour to the Pastoral Centre of the Diocese.
