Amidst the mission of evangelization, the promotion of good health of persons within and without the Diocese of Buea remains a major priority. February 1st, 2024, specialist doctors from the United States of America accompanied by the chief custodian of the Diocese Bishop Michael Bibi met and saluted the efforts of workers of the Associated Rehabilitation Centre for the Handicapped; ARCH Francescana Complex in Mile 14, Buea.
This courtesy visit by Dr. Mbah Apollinaris, Dr. Robert Wessel; orthopedic surgeons, and Dr. Innocent Bibi aimed at having first-hand knowledge of the functioning of ARCH with the goal of supporting its services where necessary.
The administrator and workers of the center during this August visit, walked the guests through the different departments of ARCH starting with the physiotherapy rooms where services are rendered to help restore the movement and function of patients affected by injury, illness or disability. This physiotherapy care also helps to reduce the risk of injury or illness in the future.
At the gym, the guests appreciated the variety of physiotherapy exercise equipment used in treating different medical conditions.
Still in the course of the visit, another stop was made at the workshops where customized tricycles and orthopedic shoes specifically designed to support or accommodate the mechanics and structure of the foot, ankle and leg, are being fabricated to attend to the specific needs of patients.
It is worth mentioning that the Associated Rehabilitation Centre for the Handicapped ARCH, provides rehabilitation services to people living with disabilities to enable them to become sustainably re-integrated into society.
