Over two thousand Christians gathered at the Divine Mercy Co-cathedral this 8th day of Dec. 2023 for the dedication of 149 women to the Catholic Women Association CWA, Buea Diocese. The event which took place within the context of the solemnity of the immaculate conception, was marked by a Eucharistic celebration presided over by His Lordship Michael Bibi , Bishop of the Diocese of Buea .
In his homily, the prelate congratulated these women who have dedicated themselves in serving God through the Catholic Women Association. He urged them to emulate the lifestyle of the Blessed Virgin Mary their model, by submitting themselves fully to the will of God as Mary did. He further encouraged the newly dedicated members not only to be listeners of the word but to spread the word in their actions which should be manifested in the way they serve at the level of the family, church and the community.
These women named the batch of humility, were challenged to use this privileged position as members of CWA to enrich their faith and to remain faithful and committed to the church through prayers.
The newly dedicated members took a vow to show love to their families, the community and the church and to serve the church freely without asking for remuneration. They promised to imitate the footsteps of the Blessed Virgin Mary in humility.
Taking place at the eve of celebrations marking the diamond Jubilee of the Catholic Women Association come July 2024 , Bishop Michael Bibi prayed for the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of peace on these newly dedicated members as well as the old members of CWA and asked them to honour the Blessed Virgin Mary all the times.
