The Chief Shepherd of the Diocese of Buea His Lordship Michael Bibi has received a “Church Management Torchbearer Award” in recognition for his outstanding successes recorded in the Diocese of Buea since his Canonical possession of this Diocese in February 2021. His Lordship was honored this Wednesday the 27th of September 2023 by Younde-based newspaper; NewsWatch.
This gift from NewsWatch is part of the 41 awards presented to outstanding personalities in the Country as the newspaper celebrated 10 years of existence. At the handing over ceremony which took place at the Bishop’s House in Small Soppo, Buea, the publisher of NewsWatch Mr. Ndi Eugene Ndi described the Prelate as “God Sent to Buea” and noted clearly that this recognition is in response to the worldwide audience of NewsWatch who voted Bishop Michael Bibi for manifesting exceptional skills in leading God’s people in the Diocese of Buea and for tactfully restructuring the Catholic University Institute of Buea -CUIB, to fulfill its mission of moulding servant leaders.
He further expressed admiration for the works of Bishop Michael Bibi noting specifically the spiritual growth of the Diocese, and the new face lift of Diocesan infrastructures.
In response to this symbolic gesture, Bishop Michael Bibi referred to the Award as “a result of collaboration from my Priests, Religious, Laity and all the people of goodwill in and out of the Diocese of Buea”. He expressed gratitude to the five-man delegation of NewsWatch and their entire team, and also to the audience of this newspaper for such credit.
His Lordship used this opportunity to announce to the team the future celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Diocese of Buea in 2025; a milestone which he expressed the desire to enjoy maximum collaboration from NewsWatch and all other media houses in the country for success.The NewsWatch newspaper celebrated their 10th anniversary in Yaounde on August 19, 2023.
