The Bishop and proprietor of catholic schools in the Diocese of Buea Bishop Michael Bibi, recently met with representatives of the catholic education family to map out strategies to improve on the financial status of these workers as the Diocese implements the 2023 Barem this academic year 2023/2024.
This decision to incorporate the 2023 salary barem is a move by the Chief Shepherd in respond to the voices of the teachers who have for close to a decade decry their financial situation as teachers of catholic schools. Being a father and leader, the Chief Shepherd amongst other priorities embraced since his canonical possession of the Diocese of Buea in 2021, also penned this concern from teachers and is taking necessary steps to ameliorate the situation for better days ahead for this group of workers.
It is in this light that a ten-man delegation was set up on the 30th of September during the meeting held at the Bishop’s House in Small Soppo, to present possible proposals on the way forward for a smooth take off in the implementation of the 2023 salary barem.
These teachers, who left the hall contented with this gesture, applauded the Prelate for His sense of understanding as they look forward to exciting days ahead.
The teachers are to convene on the 6th of October in the Bishop’s House to look at recommendations made by the ten-man delegation.
Reminding the teachers of the importance of prayers as they execute their duties, Bishop Michael Bibi offered rosaries and a handbook on how to pray the rosary to these teachers; a gift he urged them to use regularly for the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
